World War I returned to Eisenhower National Historic Site in May 2024, and the East Coast Doughboys were invited participants. An estimated 500 came out to see us, despite a constant drizzle all weekend. The highlight was meeting our compatriots from Tennessee, the Pall Mall Doughboys from Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park. We also welcomed a fantastic performance by the AEF Band, from the Doughboy Foundation in Washington, D.C.
The site was the former home of President Eisenhower and First Lady Mamie Eisenhower. We had a fantastic house tour, topped off with little putting on Ike’s putting green.
We also had on site the Navy History Heritage Command and the U.S. Marine Corps Historical Company, who brought out fantastic artifacts from WWI. Thanks to all for bringing out wonderful living history displays.
