Living History and Impressions
Any military impression 1914-1919 is welcome. Any civilian (Edwardian Era) and non-combatant impression from this era is welcome. Please no WW2 gear, equipment, or uniforms.

Mass Transit (recommended): Take 1 train to South Ferry, R train to Whitehall Street

Vehicles
All participants must be approved in advance who are planning to drive onto the island. You must provide: make, model, color, state, and license plate number. You will be assigned a time slot to drive onto the island between 0700 and 0900 on Friday Sept. 13 or Saturday Sept. 14. There are no other options on this point, Friday afternoon arrival is possible but not confirmed. All others must walk onto the ferry. Preference is given to those drivers who are carpooling and bringing one or more reenactors to the event. A waitlist may be necessary for vehicle entry.
Arrival Times
Arrive on island is via ferry, from Manhattan:
Friday, Sept 13 (walk-on any time after 0800)
Friday, Sept 13 (drive-on by scheduled time after 0800)
Saturday, Sept 14 (walk-on and drive-on starting 0700)
Sunday, Sept 15 (walk-on and drive-on starting 0700)
There is no fee to ride the ferry before 1000. The event opens to the public at 1000, both days.
Departure Times
Departures will commence at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 15. All participants must begin packing up to depart beginning at 3:00 p.m. The event closes at 4:00. All must be packed up by 5:00 p.m. The last ferry off island is at 6:00 p.m.
Camping
Only reenactors and those providing living history displays are permitted to camp out on the island on Friday and Saturday nights, Sept 13 and 14. If you do not have a vintage WWI tent, you may set up a modern tent after the public leaves the island, away from the WWI areas. You must register in advance by 12 September to camp, no exceptions. All participants will be issued an ID pass for the weekend, from Kevin Fitzpatrick, organizer.
Food
There will be a WWI field kitchen for meals (dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday, breakfast and lunch Sunday) that are provided to reenactors only. If you want to bring your own food, this is fine. There are no refrigeration facilities. There are also vendors and food trucks on Governors Island a few minutes walk from the Parade Ground. Water will be provided for free.
Weapons
These are guidelines for bringing vintage weapons to Governors Island National Monument via the Governors Island ferry.
1. Rifle must be transported at all times in a case;
2. Bolt must be removed;
3. Utilize trigger lock with key;
4. No ammunition of any type can be transported;
5. Carry government-issue photo ID at all times.
There will be a mandatory rifle inspection on Governors Island at 1000 hours on Saturday. All participants are required to attend.
Bathrooms
There is a bathroom with running water and flush toilets. There are no shower facilities.
